Tyre Performance Technology — Equipment Rental

IR tyre
temperature
sensor kit.

Professional infrared tyre surface temperature measurement — available to rent as a complete plug-and-play kit, with or without a TPT engineer. Know what your tyres are doing, without the capital investment.

What is in the kit

Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.

The TPT IR rental kit arrives pre-configured and tested, ready to be operational within minutes. Every component is matched and set up — no calibration or software configuration required at the track.

Sensors
Infrared tyre surface temperature sensors
Non-contact IR measurement per wheel. Captures surface temperature at the tyre contact patch — the most relevant point for compound behaviour.
Receiver
Wireless receiver unit
Receives data from all four sensors wirelessly. No wiring through the car required. Real-time temperature visible at the pit wall during sessions.
Logger
AIM data logger
Industry-standard AIM logging hardware, pre-configured for the sensor kit. Compatible with AIM Race Studio and standard analysis tools.
GPS
GPS sensor
Position and speed data every lap — enabling temperature correlation by track sector, so you know not just how hot, but exactly where on track.
Power
Independent battery pack
Self-contained power supply. Works with any car, regardless of available connections or onboard voltage.
Plug and play.
From delivery to data.
The kit installs in minimal time even without dedicated data staff — sensor mounting, one cable to the logger, battery connection. No software setup, no calibration at the track.

Data is available in real time at the pit wall during sessions. After the event, all logged data is ready for full analysis in AIM Race Studio or equivalent tools.

Available standalone — or with a TPT engineer included, who handles installation, monitors data during sessions, and provides a debrief and recommendations after. You get the data and the expertise to make sense of it.

Rental options

Kit only, or
kit with engineer

Both options include the same complete hardware kit. The difference is whether you want TPT expertise alongside it.

Option A
Standalone Kit Rental
The complete IR kit delivered to you ready to use. Suitable for teams with existing data staff who want tyre temperature data without investing in permanent sensors.

Includes delivery and collection. Data is yours to analyse with your own tools. TPT can provide a data briefing by video call if useful.
Option B
Kit + TPT Engineer
The complete kit, plus a TPT engineer at the track for your event. The engineer handles installation and monitoring during sessions, interprets the temperature data in the context of the compound wear model, and provides a clear debrief and recommendations.

Suitable for track days, test days, and race weekends where you want to understand what the tyre data means — not just collect it.
What the data tells you

Temperature is
more than a number

Surface temperature per wheel, correlated with track position and lap data, reveals compound behaviour in ways that lap time and driver feedback alone cannot.

Operating window
Is the tyre reaching its optimal temperature range? Too cold and the compound never activates fully. Too hot and you are burning through the performance window faster than the stint allows. The data shows exactly where you are — and what to change.
Corner-by-corner loading
Combined with GPS, the data shows which corners are loading which tyres hardest — revealing balance issues, raceline problems, and driving style effects that are invisible in lap time data alone.
Degradation trigger
When a tyre peaks above its thermal limit — even briefly — the compound wear model can calculate the performance penalty that results later in the stint. Temperature data is the early warning system for degradation before it shows in lap time.
Setup direction
Temperature imbalance across axles or tyre width is a direct indicator of load distribution and pressure setup. The data gives engineers an objective basis for setup decisions — rather than relying on driver feel alone.
Stint planning
Knowing the temperature profile of the tyre through a full stint allows accurate prediction of when performance will drop — and by how much. Combined with the compound model, pit stop timing becomes a calculated decision, not a guess.
Driver coaching
Showing a driver where and how their inputs are heating the tyre is one of the most effective coaching tools available. Specific, corner-by-corner data makes feedback concrete and actionable in a way that subjective discussion cannot.
