Tyre performance technology is a company that focusses on performance, efficiency and environment when it comes to tyres. With our in-house developed techniques and knowledge, we give everybody the opportunity to get the most out of their tyres, whether it is performance, lifespan, stability, fuel consumption or safety.
At Tyre Performance Technology we developed a novel tyre compound testing method, called the TPT001 compound testing method. This method enables us to create tyre compound wear models. These models give insights in how the rubber compound changes throughout its lifespan due to temperature- and abrasion effects.
The created models can be used for many different purposes, for example race engineers can use these for laptime simulations, tactical decision making, driver coaching and many more. The models are good for stand alone use, but they can also be implemented in existing laptime simulation software or other tools.
In the following document a few use cases can be found on how to use the TPT001 compound wear models as stand-alone models.
When involved in road safety or as a research facility these models can also give very useful information.
The TPT001 compound testing method is also used for road tyres like passenger car or truck tyres.
The model shows for these types of tyres how they will change their performance over time when exposed to temperature from driving and loss of tread thickness.
Similar things happen to road tyres as to racing tyres, just at a slower rate, but our testing method can cope with all wear rates to produce the measurements fit for the right purpose.
In the following document research conducted by TPT is shown.
Three all-season tyres who came top of the list of a European comparison were tested with the TPT001 compound testing method. The brands and types of these tyres are left out because these results are the property of TPT.
Customer specific testing
At TPT we conduct our own research, but we always are in close contact with the customers to make sure the results are in line with their expectations. The window of parameters is specified before each model test plan to be in the right range and there are different test setups to choose from to meet your requirements.
The TPT001 compound test machine allows for different test surfaces, and they all consist of real asphalt and/or concrete configurations. This gives the most realistic interaction between tyre and road surface; therefore, the results will be more in line with reality. Now TPT is only able to do dry testing on solid surfaces, but there is a lot of development happening in the background to give the customer a wider range of surfaces and conditions to choose from.
